Privacy Policy

RateYourBoss understands the importance of protecting your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy governs the manner in which RateYourBoss Inc. collects, uses, maintains and discloses information collected from users (each, a “User”) of the web site (“Site”). This privacy policy applies to the Site and all products and services offered by RateYourBoss Inc.”). This Privacy Policy applies only to the Site, and we are not responsible for the practices of persons, companies, institutions or web sites that RateYourBoss does not control, manage, or employ. Except as set forth in this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Use Agreement (“Terms of Use”) and other published guidelines, we do not release personal information about our users without their permission.

1. What Sorts of Personal Information Will RateYourBoss Keep About You?

We collect personal identification information from Users in a variety of ways, including, but not limited to, when Users visit our Site, register on the Site, respond to a survey, fill out a form, and in connection with other activities, services, features or resources we make available on our Site. Users may be asked for, as appropriate, name and email address. Users may, however, visit our Site anonymously. We will collect personal identification information from Users only if they voluntarily submit such information to us. We may use the Personally Identifiable Information that you provide to respond to your questions, provide you specific information about services you select, send you updates about online materials offered by RateYourBoss or other RateYourBoss events, and send you email messages about Site maintenance or updates, among other things.

Users can always refuse to supply personally identification information, except that it may prevent them from engaging in certain Site related activities.

RateYourBoss offers public forums from time to time (the “Forums”) where you can share comments and thoughts. In order to participate in the Forums, you may be required to register with us and/or provide us with Personally Identifiable Information such as your name and email address. “Personally Identifiable Information” shall not include any information posted or sent by or to you via any public Forum.

We collect non-personal identification information about Users whenever they interact with our Site. Non-personal identification information may include the browser name, the type of computer and technical information about Users means of connection to our Site, such as the operating system and the Internet service providers utilised and other similar information.

Our Site uses “cookies” to enhance the User experience. User’s web browsers places cookies on their computer hard drive for record-keeping purposes and sometimes to track information about them. Users may choose to set their web browser to refuse cookies, or to alert you when cookies are being sent. If they do so, note that some parts of the Site may not function properly.

Information you provide helps us respond to your customer service requests and support needs more efficiently. We may use information in the aggregate to understand how our Users as a group use the services and resources provided on our Site. We may use feedback you provide to improve our products and services. We may periodically send Users information via email that they agreed to receive about topics we think will be of interest to them.

We will use the email address you provide to send the User information and updates pertaining to your agreement to use our survey. It may also be used to respond to your inquiries, questions, and/or other requests. If the User decides to opt-in to our mailing list via registration, they will receive emails that may include company news, updates, related product or service information, etc. If at any time the User would like to unsubscribe from receiving future emails, we include detailed unsubscribe instructions at the bottom of each email or User may contact us via our Site.

2. Why does RateYourBoss Need your Personal Information?

We collect information about you to primarily provide and market our goods and services to you via email, for after sales support purposes, and to comply with taxation laws (where applicable).

If you have made a purchase, we require at least your name and your email address so that we can keep a record of your membership. By not providing us with information we request, the system will not function as email addresses are integral in the services we deliver.

Some of our Site’s functionality can be used without revealing any personal information, though for features or services related to the online courses, personal information is required. If you do not use these specific features or services on the Site, then the only information we collect will be “Non-Personal Information” (i.e., information that cannot be used to identify you). Non-Personal Information includes information such as the web pages that you have viewed. In order to access certain features and benefits on our Site, you may need to submit “Personally Identifiable Information” (i.e., information that can be used to identify you). Personally Identifiable Information can include information such as your name and email address, among other things. You are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the Personally Identifiable Information you submit to RateYourBoss. Inaccurate information may affect your ability to use the Site, the information you receive when using the Site, and our ability to contact you. For example, your email address should be kept current because that is one of the primary manners in which we communicate with you.

3. Will RateYourBoss Disclose Personal Information About You to Anyone Else?

When making a purchase RateYourBoss will only disclose your personal information in connection with your purchase, for example in order to facilitate the sending and administration of surveys to your team. Survey results are always retained in absolute confidence only disclosed to the surveyed manager, the User. It is then to the User’s discretion as to whether these results are shared more broadly or published on any forum, social media or public platform.

In addition if you have consented to receive marketing material you consent to us providing to our agents and third parties such details as may be required to allow us to market and provide our goods and services to you.

We do not sell, trade, or rent Users personal identification information to others. We may share generic aggregated demographic information not linked to any personal identification information regarding visitors and users with our business partners, trusted affiliates and advertisers for the purposes outlined above.

4. Can You Access the Personal Information RateYourBoss Holds About You?

You have a right to access the information we collect and hold about you. If at any time you no longer wish to receive marketing material, would like to access or change your details, or you would like more information on our approach to privacy, please contact the support team. We have an appointed Privacy Compliance Officer to assist you with any inquiries, complaints or feedback you may have.

5. How We Protect Your Information

We adopt appropriate data collection, storage and processing practices and security measures to protect against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction of your personal information, username, password, transaction information and data stored on our Site.

Sensitive and private data exchange between the Site and its Users happens over a SSL secured communication channel and is encrypted and protected with digital signatures. Our Site is also in compliance with PCI vulnerability standards in order to create as secure of an environment as possible for Users.

6. Children’s Online Privacy Protection

RateYourBoss strongly believes in protecting the privacy of children. In line with this belief, we do not knowingly collect or maintain Personally Identifiable Information on our Site from persons under 13 years of age, and no part of our Site is directed to persons under 13 years of age. If you are under 13 years of age, then please do not use or access this Site at any time or in any manner. We will take appropriate steps to delete any Personally Identifiable Information of persons less than 13 years of age that has been collected on our Site without verified parental consent upon learning of the existence of such Personally Identifiable Information.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

RateYourBoss Inc. has the discretion to update this privacy policy at any time. When we do, we will post a notification on the main page of our Site, revise the updated date at the bottom of this page and send you an email. We encourage Users to frequently check this page for any changes to stay informed about how we are helping to protect the personal information we collect. You acknowledge and agree that it is your responsibility to review this privacy policy periodically and become aware of modifications.

8. Your Acceptance of These Terms

Please understand that by submitting any Personally Identifiable Information to us, you consent and agree that we may collect, use, disclose and retain such Personally Identifiable Information in accordance with this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Use, and as permitted or required by law. If you do not agree with these terms, then please do not provide any Personally Identifiable Information to us. If you refuse or withdraw your consent, or if you choose not to provide us with any required Personally Identifiable Information, we may not be able to provide you with the services that can be offered on our Site.
